Shoe project almost finished

Hellos from Kampala!

Sorry that we have only written in Finnish because of the very tight schedule. Now I'll try to write a couple of lines to tell about our Shoe project. We had a very busy week last week: on Monday and Tuesday we were shopping for children's shoes, stationery, school bags and school socks. It was very interesting to bargain and experience a REAL shopping culture! :) We got 60 pairs of shoes, stationery for all the sponsor kids and also note books and pencils for the whole school in Masulita school. On Wednesday we sorted out the clothes that we brought from Finland and put them in the school bags. The extra clothes and shoes we gave to the children's transit center which is located next to the Jolly Children's Academy in Masulita village.

On Thursday morning we travelled to Masulita and we were amazed about the school site: the school was already so much bigger than two years ago and there were so much farming land where they grew for example sweet potatoes, cassava, beans, mangos, matoke (plantain) etc.! They were very much self sufficient with the food which made us very happy.

On Friday we visited 20 families (sponsor kids) and saw many kinds of living conditions. Some of the stories were real success stories, some not so good. The money given by sponsors and all the donators definitely goes to the right place!!!

On Saturday we had Children's Fun Day: the whole school took part and we playes, ate and gave the school bags and stationery. Everybody was very happy!

Greets,

Kiti
